Recites recent activities of his Regiment, including marching to the river, embarking on river boats, and making camp. He praises the Mississippi River boats, mentions the lack of new or clean clothing since they only carry rations when marching, reports on Joe "of colored persuasion" absconding with the culinary department along with the Captain's traps, blankets, etc.
